ボナンパック
| チアパス州南部、グァテマラ国境にほど近い森の奥に残るボナンパックは、マヤ文明史上最も重要な都市のひとつだ。1946年の彩色壁画の発見はマヤ研究の世界に大きな衝撃をもたらした。三つの部屋の内部いっぱいに描かれた、生々しい戦争や捕虜への虐待、祝祭などの場面は、それまでのマヤ世界観に大きな変更を求めるものだった。古典期前期に繁栄したとみられる周辺はマヤ人の子孫のひとつであり、森の中で伝統的な生活スタイルを守ってきたラカンドン族が住む「ラカンドニア」であり、ボナンパックもまた、ラカンドン族にとってひとつの聖地だった。長らくアクセスの難しい場所であり、小型飛行機で森の中に降りるなどの方法でごく限られた人々だけば訪れていたが、今では舗装道路も完備され、パレンケ村から日帰りできるようになった。 |
